Today was our last day in Edinburg!
A few of us headed to the grocery store to buy Maria and her kids some food. We loaded up all sorts of needful items from shampoo and soap to milk and rice and bread. Plus a few fun things for the kids, footballs, bubbles, Coco Puffs. We took them all out to her – but she wasn’t there! She had had a relative take her into town and purchase some groceries with the money we had left her the night before! She drove up in a few minutes and we were able to share together more about what had happened the night before, let her meet Laura ( who lives in Edinburg ) and play with the kids. She was so grateful and still amazed at the joy and peace she felt!
The rest of the team went to the Boys and Girls Club and got to do the dramas and dances, play with kids and many of them received Jesus into their hearts!
Then it was off to Doolittle Park – a huge park with tons of people! We set up under a pavilion and invited people, did 3 sets and had LOTS of good conversations with people! We even had a man walk up to the front while we were sharing the Gospel holding out his cellphone! He wanted his friend to hear the GOOD NEWS!
The Faith Set…..

Tonight was AMAZING – well, it ended that way. The beginning was a bit rough. Here’s what happened….
We drove out about 20 miles of Edinburg to a rural colonia. A little neighborhood of about 4 streets wide and 1.5 mile deep. One little convenience store. As we drove into the neighborhood and the guys were looking for a good space to set up – a lady flagged Tad down. ” Do you have any work for me sir? My husband has been deported and me and my children have no food, I have no job. Can you help?” Tad replied that he had no work as we were visitors in the city – but that we WOULD help and bring some food. We found an empty lot on the main street and the owner agreed for us to use it as our outreach site. We all split up and went prayer walking and inviting people to come and hear music, see dramas and dances etc. etc.
So it’s start time and NOBODY’s there. I mean besides us – NOBODY. So we did our set anyway. Sang our songs, girls did their dance, kids did their dance, drama team performed LIFE and Death, shared testimony, presented the Gospel……………….for us, our team, and Jesus. Sherry got the mic and started praying – calling down heaven on that little colonia and praying God’s blessing and favor on the neighborhood. We had been told that that building site had formally had a prostitution house and the father had molested his children there. Sherry prayed against all the wickedness that had been done there and asked God to redeem it. When the prayer was over – we looked to see PEOPLE COMING! About fifteen people were walking up! HOORAY! PEOPLE! We started the whole thing over and had an audience this time! We ended up doing three full sets – the last by the headlights of our cars turned to shine on us! Over twelve people gave their hearts to JESUS!
As the last set was finishing up, Rick and Jessica S. went to take our food we had in the van to the 1st lady Tad had met, Maria. Her house wasn’t too far down the road. They took all our apples, pop tarts and cereal bars we hadn’t eaten as snacks. As they talked with her – she said she was sitting watching our presentations through the fence but her back and knee were hurting too much to walk down to us. Rick shared his testimony, they prayed for her healing, and then Jessica asked her if she would like to receive Jesus as her Saviour. She prayed after Jess and as she said “Jesus, come save me” she fell back under the power of the Holy Spirit. Jess only had her hand on her knee and Maria was sitting on her front step, so she didn’t have far to fall! As you can imagine Jess was QUITE amazed! as was Maria and her children who were watching! When Maria came to – they explained it was the Power of the Holy Spirit!
So then Rick came back down to us and Tad and Kent went back to talk with them. Tad explained that what had happened was normal – and that God wanted to speak to her and to give her ( Maria) a heavenly language. He asked if they could pray again, she agreed. Tad prayed and asked God to come and fill her. They were quiet for a minute then Maria started clapping vigorously and speaking in tongues and then BAM – she fell back again! Everyone’s eyes were huge! {Jess said afterward – this is Jackie Pullinger come to life!} When Maria came to again – they asked her how she felt – she said ” I feel so happy! ” Come to find out her two boys prayed with Mark down at our outreach site!
WOW! What a day! From our worse turn-out ever to our MOST AMAZING NIGHT! God is SO GOOD!
